Sailing Southern Ionian Islands (Greece)

Date TBA 2016

On this trip, Indego Club are offering the chance to join a professionally skippered yacht to sail around the Greek islands.  You'll learn as much about sailing as you like and our lead skipper can even provide non-tidal certification from Yacht Crew to Yacht Skipper level. Snorkel, sail, relax and dine under the stars as you island hop the Southern Ionian islands.

The itinerary, in pictures...

A chance to join Activity Holidays Greece on board a professionally skippered charter.

Activity Holidays Greece has been operating in the Southern Ionian Islands for over twenty five years. A small, family owned yacht charter company based in Nidri on the island of Lefkas.

Ben - one of our members, and owner of Activity Holidays Greece, will be your lead skipper for the week.  Ben has been a sailing instructor in both the Dodecanese and the Ionian for the last 9 years. He is passionate about sailing and teaching and his CV includes European, Transatlantic, Caribbean and East Coast American passages as well as regularly racing while in the UK.

Ben will provide as much instruction as you wish, meaning you can get involved and learn as much (or as little) as you like. He can even provide non-tidal certification from Yacht Crew to Yacht Skipper level should you want to take your sailing skills to a new level!

What's a typical day?

Most afternoons you'll be able to explore idyllic, tranquil bays, have lunch, swim and snorkel. You will normally in port by 17:30 hours and after a cold drink and time for a quick shower, you will dine with the group in local tavernas.  Usually the yacht will be anchored in secluded bays where you can make fires after dinner, bring out the guitar and drinks and stay up late under the stars.

What activities do the islands offer?

If you have itchy feet for adventure when you're ashore, Ben knows of some great island hot spots for those looking for exciting climbing, diving, caving and tunnelling.  There'll also be some great photographic opportunities throughout the trip and especially within the caves so make sure to bring your camera.

What's the board-basis?

A yacht starter pack is included and will help to provide some of the basics.  Club members are encouraged to put together a kitty for lunches which will be eaten on board the boat. In the true spirit of yacht crew - everyone pitches in to help with meals. You will dine ashore each evening.

What are the extra costs?

During the trip you all fuel and port fees are inluded as is instruction to any level.  Skippers will dine with our members but will always be excluded from the final bill for evening meals and from the kitty for any lunches.

Travel arrangements?

While Indego-Club don't include flights and transfers in the cost of your trip, once we know who is attending, our Indego-Club representative can help to organise these for the group if necessary. You may find other members willing to join up for travel via the Group Blog zone.
